Jeans Made Out of…What? One Company Dared to Go Where None Had Before — and Even Levi's Is On Board.
"Our core competency is invention," Stacy Flynn, the 49-year-old CEO and co-founder of textile innovations company Evrnu, says.
Our Nucycl® technology converts cotton waste into new fiber, which can be reformed again and again.
Discover MoreMaterials Science Brand PANGAIA, will release its latest innovation through PANGAIA Lab. The company's first denim product manufactured entirely from cotton textile waste, the RENU jacket from textile innovations company Evrnu is a turning point in the brand's journey of material innovation.
PANGAIA Lab is the company's innovation hub, bringing cutting-edge technology to consumer items so that people may wear the future now. A shared goal to develop substitutes for high-resource fibers like cotton and to maximize the value of materials currently in use rather than virgin, fossil fuel-derived, or animal-derived fibers gave rise to the relationship with Evrnu.
Dr. Amanda Parkes, chief innovation officer, said that Evrnu stands for the highest caliber of innovation in the field of recycled fibers. The great promise for improved quality from recycling technologies is being demonstrated by the release of their first product as partners after a protracted journey together.
A fiber made from pre- and post-consumer textile waste is called NuCycl by EVRNU. It may be recycled up to five times without sacrificing performance or quality and is up to four times stronger than other cellulosic fibers, such as cotton and the majority of MMCF. Utilizing NuCycl lessens the industry's dependency on cotton, MMCF, nylon, and polyester while also helping to divert textile waste from landfill and incineration.
NuCycl is a substantially less resource-intensive substitute for cotton or polyester because it doesn't need to be combined with any virgin fiber and allows for more recycling cycles than mechanically recovered cotton does.
Stacy Flynn, CEO and co-founder of Evrnu, said that they are excited to partner with PANGAIA, which shares their drive to unleash the future of materials and technology for the fashion industry. Their goal is to work with manufacturers to produce apparel from recycled materials that are not only of the best quality but also recyclable in the future. The increased market demand for NuCycl makes them happy.
A piece of the PANGAIA modern wardrobe, the RENU jacket has an oversized fit and is designed to be worn over a hoodie. The edition number of the jacket has taken the place of PANGAIA's trademark material textblock with this limited release.
